The Butterfly Factory

The Butterfly Factory is a traveling exhibition and workshop that uses parametric design to create one-of-a-kind wing forms, generating a new series of unique prints for each location to which it migrates.  This set of works was initially based on wings drawn by Leondardo da Vinci as part of a flying machine sketch.  Each of the butterflies in this show is unique – they are generated by a program written by Morin, and then printed in pigment ink by a vinyl cutter that Morin modified for this process.  For each exhibition, I write a new version of the program that reflects the community in which it lands, and offer workshops in creative coding and parametric design.

A visit from The Butterfly Factory includes a show with new artwork and workshops designed for the community. Please contact me at mollycmorin@gmail.com for more information on bringing The Butterfly Factory to your town
